There's perhaps a small chance that any of you care a jot about how my year went. So for those of you who are fairly bored in their lives and want some mild entertainment, please read on and find out what I loved and hated about 2011.....
Highs
The Annual Mexican Slothiday
As long as I am able I will take an annual tropical slothiday with my wonderful wife. I hate winter (except for skiing) and it just seems endless up here in the frozen wasteland. 2011's trip was great and we're going back again in 2012. Bob telling the server "surprise me" when asked what we wanted to drink was a moment not to be forgotten. The evil smile on her face made it even better.
Battlefield
Those of you who regularly read the drivel I write on here know that I love the Battlefield series. I spent a lot of time on the Battlefield in 2011. Lost count of the hours playing Bad Company 2 with Mike. Battlefield 3 is my 2011 GOTY and Mike has now acquired a copy. This is why I built a new PC. Yes, I'm a geek at heart.
My Office
Life is always much better when you enjoy the place you work at. 2011 was such a successful year for me at work that I'm wondering how 2012 can top it. Add in the fact that I work with so many cool people in such a laid back environment and you can see how my life rules. Looking forward to many more filthy Fridays.
Turning 40
Life begins at 40 unless you've messed up your life. By this point you should have your own money, a cool place to live, be able to dress, and know what good sex actually is. Thanks to my wife for making my 40th special and getting me the basement beer fridge that any self respecting married man ought to have.

The Near Miss(es)
Twice in about 30 days I had the near miss. Thanks to Geoff for his quick reaction time. He would have been killed. I only would have been badly maimed. And thanks to myself for my own quick reaction time, since 30 days earlier I most certainly would have died.
LA Noire
I spent years looking forward to this game. What a mess. Epic fail. Enough said.
The Flights To/From Mexico
The time in Mexico is great. The flights suck. I hate to fly because I'm really, really scared to fly. When you add in a screaming child in the row ahead of me...for 6 hours each way...and you have Jay contemplating childicide.
Snow and Mosquitoes
2011 was the year of the blood sucking bug where I live. Couldn't go camping, couldn't sit out on the patio, couldn't walk to my damned car! A rainy, bug filled awful summer after the most snowy, cold winter since 1971. Oh joy! Thanks for making me live here, dear!
Thanks for visiting The World According to Jay!
Have a great 2012 everybody.
But that's just the way I see it.
